There are many types of oils on the market made from different processes such as pressing and extraction. So what does oil press mean? What is the difference between oil press and extraction? Today we wrote down the answers to these questions and everything you want to know about the oil press.

What is Oil Press?

The device for extracting oil from plants (seeds) is called an oil press. It is possible to extract oil in two different ways using an oil press: hot press and cold press. Oil extraction is usually done by the cold press method. Because it is possible to obtain the healthiest oil with the cold press oil extraction method.

What Does an Oil Press Do?

The oil press is used to extract oil from seeds and nuts. An oil extraction machine, called an oil press, uses high pressure to “squeeze” oils from a plant. Seeds and nuts release their oils through this mechanical process, which is usually done without the addition of any chemicals. Thus, pure and organic oil is obtained from the seeds.

How Does the Oil Press Work?

ULIMAC oil extractors typically use a Tightening Torque Press. Some products, such as peanuts, must be peeled before going through the press.

The seed is fed into the torque system in a high pressure cylindrical torque. The material passes through the system, producing friction. The high pressure created during this squeezes almost all of the seed oil.

When the oil is pressed, it seeps through a sieve or filter to ensure that no solids or fibers are lost. This creates a clean, smooth product. The residual pressed seeds form a hard cake that is removed from the machine and the oil flows into a separate container.

From which seeds can oil be extracted with an oil press?

Oil extraction can be done from dry oil seeds such as sesame seeds, hemp, sunflower seeds, canola, coconut, black cumin, grape seeds, safflower, canola, pumpkin seeds, melon seeds, palm seeds, pomegranate seeds, coconuts. It is possible to extract oil from products such as peanuts, apricot kernel, hazelnut, peanut, walnut, poppy, linseed, almond, peanut, jajoba, mustard seed, nettle seed, raspberry, pepper seed, rosehip seed, jatropha, cocoa bean, melon seed, soybean, blueberry seeds, pistachio with an oil press.

Difference Between Oil Press and Oil Extraction

The oil press is to squeeze the seeds to get the oil. Oil extraction is done by being completely immersed in solvent and then at high temperature to extract the oil. In the extraction process, it is not inevitable to leave some solvent in the extraction oil. This means that the extraction oil is not that healthy compared to the pressed oil. Oils produced with an oil press machine are always healthier.
